Tidbits of history

Did you know that in January 1889, around 300 Luxembourgers emigrated to Argentina? Luxemburger Wort thought it was heartbreaking to see the little children being taken away from their homes.

Or that when an emigrant returned to Luxembourg from the USA to visit, the same newspaper reports that the news spread like wildfire in the village of Koerich, and that villagers met him and walked back to the village singing?

Or that in December 1944, the following telegram was sent:

To the German Commander. NUTS! The American Commander.
