Luxembourg has a long Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) history, from the very first contest in 1956 up until 1993. Many famous names have performed for Luxembourg; Nana Moskouri, France Gall, Vicky Leandros, Baccara, Lara Fabian and Modern Times among others. Luxembourg has won 5 times, and the perhaps most well known song is Poupée de cire, poupée de son sung by France Gall in 1965.
Even though it’s been quite a few years since ESC fans have heard Luxembourg 12 points, there are plenty of other countries that Lux residents can cheer for. Each year, the Eurovision Song Contest Committee in Luxembourg hosts the official presentation of the Eurovision entries at the Centre Culturel in Bivange. This year, the event will take place on Friday, and the committee hopes to gather an international crowd of people living in Luxembourg.
This annual viewing evening will screen the 37 official songs destined for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest held in Copenhagen, Denmark on May 6, 8 and 10. All the attendees will be jury members and will vote for their favourite songs. These votes will be the official Luxembourg results in the Eurovision polls, so the organisers welcome people from all over Europe.
