Lëtz Create – Gabriela Pinaud

Each month, Miranda van den Heuvel talks to creative people in Luxembourg and says “look, Luxembourg is creative! Here’s how and where!” The July talk is with Gabriela Pinaud, creative director of her own studio offering various creative services.

1. What is CREATIVITY?

Creativity to me is the art of finding alternative solutions to everyday situations – thinking outside the box and finding new ways to express yourself. It can be through art, fashion and food, but also while doing everyday work, raising children and how we react and express feelings. Creativity is in every one of us and can be used in every thinkable situation.

2. How are you creative?

Gabriela PinaudI’m a crafty person by nature, with an educational background in design and marketing. Today I work in visual merchandising and styling. My job requires that I execute different techniques depending on what the project needs. I prefer everything DIY even if it takes longer, and I get a lot of satisfaction through creating something myself. I’m constantly exploring new forms of creative expression and I’m more than happy to see it applied to a client’s project. My main objective is to transform items (commercial spaces, event venues, etc) into a more aesthetic piece, through small and big details reflecting brands and clients’ personalities.

3.  Suggest a simple creative activity to our readers that can make them more creative

Creativity comes with practice; the more you exercise a technique, the easier it gets to come up with new ideas. I’d say that whatever it is that inspires you, start doing it now! Start following tutorials, recipes, instructions from books and at some point you will find yourself creating on your own.

4. What are your top 3 websites for creative inspiration?

Designlovefest.com for design and styling inspiration

HonestlyWTF.com for nice fashion editorials and DIYs

Spoonforkbacon.com for recipes and nice food styling

5. What are your 3 tips to become more creative in Luxembourg?

I would suggest attending an event at The Impactory, there you will find very creative minds working on new business ideas.

Also Lëtz go Local markets are the perfect place to meet great designers and get to know their products and services.

And in general the international athmosphere in this country is inspirational enough, having friends from all over the world really opens up your mind.

6. What’s your suggestion to make Luxembourg a more creative, innovative place?

Initiatives like The Impactory or Lëtz go Local, as I mentioned before, are a great way to encourage and gather creative minds. I think there is a lot going on in Luxembourg in terms of creative projects, what’s really missing are more spaces for these people to showcase their work. We need to create a strong and active community that is constantly working on behalf of our interests.
