The Great Danes

Ecco, Lego, B&O, Eva Trio, Royal Copenhagen – I guess you have heard the names before.

Danish design has a great reputation in large parts of the world. It started in the 1950ies with pioneer designers such as Hans Wegner, Børge Mogensen, Georg Jensen and Arne Jacobsen, taking Danish design outside of Denmark’s borders.

Their design equals timelessness, simplicity, comfort, style, form, function and excellent craft work, and old classics are still very hot, and some pieces are definitely iconic, like the «Egg-chair» and the «Y-chair».

Danish design has grown into big business, and new brands are coming up, and not only furniture. The textile industry is also growing and brands like Samsøe&Samsøe, Day and Munthe, among others, are well known outside of Scandinavia.
